Auburn's Station 10 Fighting California's Wildfires

It's a hot August night in Auburn. Billowing smoke drifts through the American River Canyon and the word goes out that a fast moving brush fire is headed directly toward a new housing development. Answering the call is the elite California Department of Forestry firefighting crews who are fully equipped to handle blazes in our state's rocky terrain.

Throughout the state, CDF's firefighters, fire engines, and aircraft respond to an average 6,400 wildfires and more than 275,000 other emergencies a year. In this special report "Chronicles'" executive producer Lori Halloran goes for a ride-along with Auburn's Station 10 crew.
