Juvenile
Diabetes
Annie
Ray is a 3-year-old girl who loves to play with her toys and ride
her bike, but she is also living with a disease that affects millions
of Americans each year: Diabetes. This devastating disease affects
the body's ability to create or use the hormone insulin. Every day
her parents, Beverly and Ray, check her blood sugar levels and give
her insulin shots to keep her levels in a safe range. Annie was
just 13 months old when she was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes.
Now
she and her family are stepping into the spotlight to try and bring
attention to the disease, which impacts 17 million Americans and
2 million Californians. They volunteer for the American Diabetes
Association to raise awareness and funds to find a cure.
Beverly says she doesn't have a million dollars to donate, so she
donates her time. Her goal is to find a cure in Annie's lifetime.
