Michael Mercury was born in Tokyo, Japan, of American parents, and has lived throughout the world, from Texas to Iran, Puerto Rico to Germany, Georgia to Switzerland. Since receiving his Master's degree in Fine Arts from the University of California, Davis (1973), he has made that state his base for a wide variety of activities.

As his early travels suggest, Michael was to take a serendipitous route to his current role as talk-radio personality. Michael has taught theater in Iran and the United States, and has 15 years' experience in television and filmmaking. He has produced a variety of television programs, ranging from sports to interview shows, and is a seasoned commentator, sports announcer, actor, and restaurateur.

His interest in occult studies began long ago in Berkeley, California, and includes palmistry, aura readings, Buddhism, Zen, and, especially, astrology. Though he has given private astrology readings for the last twenty years, Michael only took his knowledge of astrology to the airwaves recently. The result, "The Center of the Universe," was an instant hit with radio listeners in Northern California. His show can be heard weekly on KDVS, where it has earned not only a cult following and rave reviews, but also the station's largest audience.

Michael brings to the show much more than a profound knowledge of astrology. His highly developed sense of intuition, quick wit, soothing voice, and prescient responses to listeners' concerns undoubtedly spring from his formal education in theater, his travels, his years of experience in broadcasting, and his skills in dealing directly with the public.

His background is, admittedly, eclectic. So is his show. What holds the show together is neither a dogma nor a creed, neither a political agenda nor a religious code; it is Michael Mercury's love of people and his audacity in delving into the most mysterious aspects of the human condition, always in a frank, open, and decidedly refreshing manner.
