Hold
on to your forks! You're in for quite a meal and quite a show
at The Kitchen in Sacramento. This unusual restaurant features
unique demonstration dinners with a special flair that only owner
and chef Randall Selland can produce. Tune in and find out how
The Kitchen's legion of chefs prepared a great meal right before
your eyes and some entertainment on the side.
"I want you to treat coming to The Kitchen as coming to my
house for dinner and that basically means everything goes!"
Selland tells the diners right up front. His whole aim is to make
fine dining tasty, but accessible. You can have seconds, even
thirds and you're welcome to get up, take a closer look at the
preparation.
Selland gets a lot of repeat customers like Kimberly Kelly. "Everybody
at work asks me how I can justify spending that much for dinner.
And I say, it's not just dinner. It's the presentation. It's Randall.
It's wonderful," Kelly said.
As
Jackie Tenge knows well you've got to understand the reservation
process if you want to get in. "We know that you're supposed
to call the first of the month to try to get in two months out.
If we forget we just get on the waiting list and inevitably there's
a cancellation and we get in," Tenge said.
Dinner,
which are held Thursdays through Saturdays (some Sundays) run
$95 to $115 per person plus tax and tip. But it's well worth it.
