Ballroom Dancing Competition

Ballroom Dancing is considered to be one of the most graceful sports in the world and is gaining popularity here in the United States. Jennifer Fischer profiles Lisa Lloyd and Danny Lerer -- Sacramento's only professional international competitive ballroom dance team.

Danny is the former Israeli National Professional Standard Champion, and also has four additional amateur national titles from Uzbekistan, which is part of the former USSR. He moved from Russia to Sacramento in 2002 to become Lisa's dance partner. Lisa has been dancing professionally for 15 years and says, "Dancing feeds your soul. It's more than just moving around and getting exercise. Most people get hooked on the way it makes them feel when they can do something well. To be able to spend time training yourself to do something so well, in such minute detail, is very challenging and very rewarding."

Danny and Lisa compete in "International" ballroom dancing, which includes Waltz, tango, fox trot and quickstep. The duo works hard by practicing three to five days a week and dance in 10 competitions a year. In addition to their busy schedules, Danny and Lisa also teach ballroom dancing to students at "The Ballroom of Sacramento."
