Running Club: Team in Training

Jeff Graybill wasn't going to let a little leg cramp get in the way of completing his dream. He still had 24 miles to go and wasn't going to let anything get in his way. Running towards the finish line, it still amazed him that this time last year, he couldn't run a mile without stopping. With 40 extra pounds on his body in January 2002, Graybill was the last person you'd think of as a marathon runner. Think again.

Jennifer Fischer profiles the 47-year-old Sacramento attorney who got in shape and finished his first marathon in December 2002. Jeff is one of thousands of people who participate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training (TNT). TNT is the world's largest endurance sports training program and provides participants with the coaching, and training to make their athletic goals a reality. In exchange for the training and support, participants raise money toward a cure for leukemia. Leukemia is one of the leading killers of children; and lymphoma, the leading killer of men and women under 35.

Participants are paired up with an "honoree" (patient) to help inspire the member reach his or her goal. Graybill says it's an emotional challenge, but one worth taking. If running isn't your thing, TNT trains cyclists and walkers as well. Jennifer meets Sue Bare, a leukemia survivor who is walking her 5th marathon this year.

TNT has raised millions of dollars toward finding cures for Leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma since it started in 1992.
