Livermore Golf Getaway

Jennifer Fischer discovers a new destination for valley residents to relax and play the greens. She heads off to the Purple Orchid Inn Resort & Spa, a bed and breakfast with an upscale log cabin flair. We meet owner Karen Hughes, who traded in her nursing career to build her dream resort. The luxurious Inn overlooks an olive grove, and offers visitors a variety of refreshing spa services.

After getting a little rest and relaxation, it's time to enjoy the beauty of the Tri-Valley area at two championship golf courses. Our first stop is at The Golf Course at Wente Vineyards. Although it's known more as a winery, don't let that stop you from playing a round! Vineyards surround the course, which was designed by two-time British Open Champion Greg Norman.

Then, we’re off to the Poppy Ridge Golf Course, definitely another fairway worth playing in Livermore. It's home to the Northern California Golfers Association and is the sister golf course to Poppy Hills in Pebble Beach. In fact, the designers of both courses are brothers!
