Amador
Wine
In
the heart of the Central Valley's gold country you'll find an
abundance of wineries that rival that of Napa and Sonoma County.
Amador County is home to numerous vineyards that produce world
renown, award-winning wines. Jennifer Fisher explores two of these
wineries to experience first-hand the unique atmosphere and fascinating
history of Amador County viticulture.
Sobon
Estate/Shenandoah Valley is located at the site of one of the
oldest wineries in California and boasts organically grown grapes.
On the vineyard grounds, one can enjoy both a professional art
gallery and the Valley Museum of Early Winemaking and Agriculture.
Another
winery in Amador County that focuses on the cultivation of Rhone
grapes is Domaine De La Terre Rouge. Together with his Easton
Wines - specializing in California varietals - owner Bill Easton
successfully creates wines that never fail to impress wine connoisseurs.
Spectator's California Wine has named domain De La Terre Rouge
the "Top Rated Sierra Foothill Winery".
