Boot Camp Workout

We enroll in a day of Boot Camp Basic Training and discover how each workout resembles a training mission. Senior Drill Instructor Rodney Carson patterned this workout after the United States Marine Corps boot camp program and teaches his "recruits" how to combat the enemy (in this case, fat) with "land attacks" such as push-ups and sit-ups, and "air attacks" like jogging and jumping jacks. Plus, Carson gives pointers on maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Healthy Food and Nena's Mexican Restaurant
El Concilio, the Latino organization that serves the Hispanic community throughout the Central Valley, received a $20,000 "healthy eating" grant. The group focused on four Stockton Mexican restaurants for alternatives to traditional dishes. Nena's Mexican Restaurant was happy to participate and put a healthier twist on old recipes by adding no-fat beans as an alternative to refried beans, using corn oil instead of lard, and adding a salad bar. El Concilio also offers
classes to home cooks on healthier eating.
