Pure Life
Firefighter

take a behind-the-scenes look at what members of the Sacramento City Fire Department
do to stay in shape. We visit the on-call crew at Station House 4 who make it
a daily ritual to workout with weights. Then we meet Coach Hughes, the man who
runs the interns and fire academy recruits through so many drills, it'll make
your head spin.

Boot
Camp Workout We
enroll in a day of Boot Camp Basic Training and discover how each workout resembles
a training mission. Senior Drill Instructor Rodney Carson patterned this workout
after the United States Marine Corps boot camp program and teaches his "recruits"
how to combat the enemy (in this case, fat) with "land attacks" such
as push-ups and sit-ups, and "air attacks" like jogging and jumping
jacks. Plus, Carson gives pointers on maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle. www.nofrills-justdrills.com

Spa to experience the only enzyme bath in the U.S. This Japanese-style heat treatment
relaxes and even soothes joint pain. Osmosis is located on a secluded five-acres
with beautiful bonsai and bamboo gardens. www.osmosis.com
Healthy Food and Nena's Mexican Restaurant El
Concilio, the Latino organization that serves the Hispanic community throughout
the Central Valley, received a $20,000 "healthy eating" grant. The group
focused on four Stockton Mexican restaurants for alternatives to traditional dishes.
Nena's Mexican Restaurant was happy to participate and put a healthier twist on
old recipes by adding no-fat beans as an alternative to refried beans, using corn
oil instead of lard, and adding a salad bar. El Concilio also offers classes
to home cooks on healthier eating.
Cranialsacral
Therapy Reonne
Haslett and Lloyd Cargo use a hands-on approach to help heal people with physical
or emotional trauma at the Heritage Oak Healing Arts Center in Auburn. Join us
as we explore their Craniosacral therapy, a gentle method of detection and correction
that encourages one's own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate the negative
effects of stress on the Central Nervous System. Used for traumatic brain and
spinal cord injuries, chronic neck and back pain, Scoliosis, and migraine headaches,
among others, it is said to improve health and resistance to disease. www.aubnet.net/Health&Fitness/heritageoak.htm
