Erik Weihenmayer- Climbing Mt. Everest
Jennifer Fischer to Erik Weihenmayer, a young man who experienced
blindness in the prime of life
but still reached the very
highest pinnacle of success
literally!
Gary Gerould
Sometimes we achieve greatness not just by overcoming adversity
but
also by doing something well year after year. That's one reason
this man is one of my favorite people
and probably yours
too, if you're a Sacramento Kings fan!
Leonard Kovar
The famous phrase 'war is hell' is both simple
and profoundly accurate. It can leave many injuries, not all of
them visible. But Allison Lund met a local World War II vet who
healed his psychic wounds by helping others
and finding inner
peace through the martial arts.

Cimbl Cleanup
Now, we head to Placer County to remember a
remarkable man. In July 2004, Hal Albertson passed away
almost
exactly ten years after he founded a remarkable volunteer group.
'Cimbl' (cymbal) has collected more than 22-thousand bags of trash
and cleaned more than twenty-four hundred miles of roads in Placer
County! To honor Hal, we thought we'd once again bring you our
original story about him from a couple of years ago.

Wild Horse Sanctuary
Those of us who suffer personal loss often
find solace in doing good for others. Pat McConahay found a woman
who's doing just that
but the recipients of her kindness
and energy are four legged, untamed and magnificent.

Other Stories
We also look at the remarkable story of a Karen
Parsegian, a Valley woman who was climbing the ladder of success,
until blindness struck. Our Mike Sanford says her optimism and
humor in the face of this profound change proved so inspiring
that it's now the subject of a Hollywood documentary.
Season eight of "Central Valley Chronicles"
is underwritten in part by Classic
Living.
