Room
Designer
When Joy Schumann retired from her desk job a couple of years
ago, she wasn't quite sure what to do next. But then she discovered that she could
actually make a living out of a self-confessed bad habit that showed up every
time she visited her friends' homes. "
I would sit there until things
were presented to me, and I was re-arranging the room in my head. So as a result,
I've been doing that." Joy took her bad habit, or skill, to New York, where
she trained with an organization called the interior refiners network. Now, as
a professional re-designer she helps other people transform, refresh, and re-arrange
every room in their house; often without having to spend a penny on new stuff. Joy
charges between $100 and $150 per room, but she says her prices are flexible.
She mentions that she appreciates the work done by interior decorators and designers,
but it's quite different. Most of them encourage their clients to buy new, while
Joy's focus is on re-using what they have. Hence the name, home RE-designer!

Prime
Time Boxing
Are you ready to shed some pounds and get back into shape? Well why not tune in
and join us as we try out a fitness program that is guaranteed to get you in tip-top
shape.
Prime Time Boxing Club & Fitness in Sacramento gave Pam Turse
a run for her money when she tried to step into the ring with Cary Williams-Nunez,
female competitor and boxing coach at Prime Time. Although they didn't spar, Cary
gave Pam an inside peek at what goes on during one of the boxing camps.
Jumping
rope, hitting the heavy bags, and learning the proper way to punch is only the
beginning when it comes to this calorie-burning course. Lora Pierce, a 51-year-old
breast cancer survivor decided to take the course when her cancer went into remission.
Now, she's in the best shape of her life and proudly boasts that good exercise,
like boxing, is helping to keep her cancer free.
Owned by Cary and
her husband Angelo, Prime Time is also a fitness center for young kids ages 12
to 17; helping to get them off the streets and into shape with after school programs.
