Miller's Hall

Ice cream and coffee, books, soap, and art can all be found under one roof: the historic town of Knights Ferry. The new businesses blend magically with 140 years of history in Miller's Hall. The building opened in 1862 as a saloon and brothel when the town was a gateway to the mines of the mother lode. It was close to being demolished and turned into a parking lot when longtime families stepped in to save it. Residents helped form the Knights Ferry History and Museum Associates. The restoration effort lasted four years, and now the Hall has turned into a centerpiece of the town. Folks like Lee Shearer and Carol Davis now dress up in costume and give school children tours of the museum upstairs. A creamery, Bath Shop, Artist's studio and a tiny post office also call Miller's Hall home.
